Elif Ozcan, PhD

Sound Designer and Researcher

Sound is the theme of Elif’s professional career. Elif worked as a DJ as well as a self-trained sound designer in a major radio station, completed a PhD on experience of product sounds, and has lead sound design projects for Toyota Motors Europe, European Space Agency, and International Standards Office.

Currently, Elif is the director of Critical Alarms Lab, a member of the alarm coalition initiated by AAMI and the principle investigator of the Silent ICU project at Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Elif’s recent research activities focus on sound-induced wellbeing of ICU patients and clinicians.

Elif is a mother of three daughters and an advocate for women in science (DEWIS at Delft University of Technology).
